Aikido is a discipline developed by Morihei Ueshiba in Japan starting in the 1920s and 1930s that aspires to understand and apply the laws of nature. In Aikido, the principle of non-resistance finds its fullest application.
More than a martial art, Aikido is a psychophysical discipline that is practiced with bare hands and with the support of the ken (sword), jo (stick), and tanto (dagger). These are the traditional sidearms of the Japanese martial way: Budo.
The success of an Aikido match corresponds to the goals of a true victory. This is achieved by training the body, but above all the spirit, to gain self-control.
